Silver News Bulletin

About

Silver News Bulletin is an independent-minded editorial publication about silver as material, object and cultural inheritance. We look at how silver is worked, used, valued and cared for, with room for both familiar household pieces and the ideas behind them.

What we cover

Our subjects include silver’s material qualities, the forms objects take, the history of silver in daily life, the decisions involved in making silverwork and thoughtful ways to keep silver pieces. We aim to make each subject legible without flattening its detail.

Who we write for

The publication is for curious readers, whether they own silver, are considering an object, enjoy craft and material culture, or simply want to understand what they are looking at. No specialist background is assumed.

How we approach it

We favour clear explanations, useful distinctions and questions a reader can carry into closer looking. We separate general information from claims about a particular piece, and avoid pretending that an object can be fully understood from appearance alone.

Our point of view

Objects reward a closer look

Silver is more than a bright surface. Its material, making and history can tell us how people have used and valued the things they keep.
